To animal lovers like myself, it goes without saying that cruelty to animals should be taken seriously and dealt with severely at all times. But there are plenty of folk out there who rank animal suffering as far less important than all issues affecting humans.
The recent news story of the Canadian psycho killer demonstrates why even those who are dismissive of animal issues need to pay attention when sick humans deliberately mistreat animals.
