Hi there, my cat has had this problem twice now and it sure wasn't cheap to take him to the vet to get the grass out. Apparently he is extremely inclined to eat grass when outside and also extremely susceptible to regurgitating it into his nose. Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening? I have heard some people grow cat grass (supposedly a softer and more malleable grass) inside....but I'm not sure if this would solve the problem or make it more likely to happen. Any suggestions are welcomed!

Hi Pete,
Can you please tell me if there is anything or anyway I can calm my dog at nightime.
She is a cross between a Bichon Friese & Jace Russell. She is 18 months old and wakes me up 3/4 times a night to go out. As a result I am very tired. She is in house all day while I am at work so sleeps most of the time. I go home at lunchtime to let her out and try to walk her as often as I can but not eveyday! Would nutering help? Any ideas?

I have a English setter bird dog that has a foreign body inside his chest cavity. Is there any test that can locate the object. My vet thinks it is most likely a grass seed

hi Pete, i was looking for some advice on my king Charles she's 7 years old, Back in march the blue cross diagnosed her with a heart murmur. she had no symptoms i just went to the vet because her breath really smelled and they pulled two small teeth. They put her on vetmedin 5mg 1/2 twice a day. she is on them 5 months now. And i felt she has disimproved since she went on them. i went for her check up today and they said she was grade 6 with the heart and fluid on the lungs and put her on fruremide 20mg & benz5mg and to stay on the vetmedin. they said she will prob ditereate and to be prepared. i was wondering could i have your opinion on this. I love her to bits and i'm heartbroken. I need to do all i can for her not to die. Also should she not have had a scan or an xray. I can feel her heart my self its like its chesty. I'd appreciate your advice. Thanks Aisling O' Connor

My dog suffers with this, he can get very hot very quickly. the first time it happened i almost died, i rushed him to the vets, the advice i can offer is get to a shady spot get cool water, not very cold as that can constrict the blood vessel and do more harm. cold wet towels to put over them in good too, but change regularly as the towel will warm up and you will just trap the heat...

As a paramedic, I would suggest more drastic measures if coping with hyperthermia in a dog. I would lower that dog's body temperature more rapidly. Hose the whole dog down with cool (not cold water), fan the dog, get the dog into the shade or a cooler environment. If no quick recovery, get to vet.

I don't know any way to diagnosis hyperthermia in a dog other than by taking his temperature, so without that tool, I would treat for the most serious condition.
